On the very first day of 2017, we had the pleasure of celebrating the marriage of Amy & Aaron at the always chic Smog Shoppe. When Amy & I first met, she said: “There are three things I care about for my wedding: tacos, a mariachi band, and Aaron.” Right away, I knew this wedding would be a deliciously good time!
Amy & Aaron had a relaxed morning taking some pre-ceremony photos before their guests arrived. Julie Shuford Photography created a relaxing and lovely vibe for their photo sesh.
Soon after, guests arrived and enjoyed a beautiful and intimate ceremony. Amy & Aaron chose to begin their ceremony by walking in together. In a modern take on the Sheva Brachot (the seven blessings), they invited seven groups of loved ones to read from literature, create their own blessings, and express themselves uniquely.
It was such a lovely part of their ceremony; loving, wise, and at times hilarious!
Next, there were personal vows and the kiss, and then…we surprised everyone with…you guessed it…MARAICHI’S!
The fabulous Mariachi Voces de Mexico entertained everyone throughout cocktail hour and even did a few extra songs upon request!
Soon it was time for guests to take their seats…
Did you notice the tortilla chips on the table? Border Grill does not mess around!
For dinner, guests were treated to a delicious Mexican dinner buffet by Border Grill. Everyone was raving all night over dinner!
After dinner and toasts, guests enjoyed this sweet and charming cake from Susie Cakes.
A wedding wouldn’t be a wedding without the details. I love these detail shots of Amy & Aaron’s rings.
If you look closely, you may be able to spy some of Amy’s wedding vows to Aaron.
After cake, the dance floor was packed until the very end of the night, with guests chanting, “One more song! One more song!” – and one more song is what they got!
Amy & Aaron, Thank you for trusting me on your wedding planning journey. Planning your wedding was a blast – I’ve never eaten so many tacos in one weeks time! I look back on your wedding day with such love and joy, as I am sure you do as well. Until our next margarita…

OH MY GOD this wedding is incredible!!! I am simultaneously upset that I didn’t have a part in planning it and also that I wasn’t a guest!
That live plant wall!
That mariachi band!
Those tamales!!
Gorgeous, fun, unique, everything a wedding should be! What a fabulous job, Renee!
This wedding is so cool! Love all of the little details, and how you incorporated their personality. Those tortilla chips in the silver bowls are an awesome touch!
I love their style and their take on the seven blessings is so original! Also, you can’t go wrong with live music. We’re having my brothers play some piano and fiddle at our wedding. It’s the best!
Loved all the details–so chic and organic at the same time– and that menu is making my stomach growl–yum!
I LOVE every detail of this wedding. So unique! I wish more brides went with a unique wedding theme like this! I am now also starving after seeing that menu!
