Back in January (!), photographer Jessica Schilling came to me with this idea: “What if we did an elopement inspiration shoot in the desert?” Despite the fact that I am a born and raised New Yorker, I absolutely adore Joshua Tree. I said “YES!” immediately. Then we thought, “What if we did a styled shoot that wasn’t so…overly styled?” And here you have it! Joshua Tree is such a stunning backdrop, you don’t need a U-Haul full of props to make it come to life!
Kristi & Bridget, a real life couple, were dream models! It’s always amazing to work with a real couple, and these ladies were just a few weeks shy of their own elopement in Hawaii. The entire team was just crazy in love with these two!
Speaking of team, we had a great one. Every single creative partner came through in a huge way, and I am so grateful to them. We had an all-female team of creative collaborators who are in a supportive local vendor community. Marriage equality, feminism, and diversity are important to all of the vendors involved, and we wanted to have a shoot that could reflect those values and attract similarly-minded clients.
For more photos from this amazing shoot, check out our feature on Catalyst Wed Co. If you aren’t already familiar with them, you should be. They are the next wave of modern weddings, and they are taking the industry by storm! I could not be prouder to have our work featured on their publication.
